RAD RACE LAST MAN STANDING
RAD RACE LAST WOMAN STANDING
RAD RACE TEAM TIME TRIAL
RAD RACE SERIES EVENT NO. 2
That was IT. The second race of the 4-event RAD RACE SERIES. 160 riders on track bikes and 80 on bikes with brakes were looking for the "Last Man Standing" and "Last Woman Standing" in a Fixed Gear- and Open elimination race tournament.
On top of that we hosted the first RAD RACE Team Time Trial to look for the fastest crew in Germany. The RAD RACE Last man Standing in an open air "nature stadium" was for the third year in a row an epic bike festival with a free campsite, food trucks and just a DIY celebration of the best sport in the world. Thank you to all riders, spectators and especially to all volunteers and friends. We wanna dedicated this to YOU! To everyone who was there and believed in us. It means everything to us.
Here's the EVENT RECAP with the official results, photos and much love to all of you...

This is how everything went down...
We were looking forward to this weekend for such a long time. Ever since registration started last December we were hoping for good weather to celebrate Germany's biggest underground cycling festival with more than 300 riders from all over Europe to ride the second event of the RAD RACE SERIES 2016. Also we had the premiere of our very first Team Time Trial... Everyone who was there in the previous years knew what to expect. 900 meters of perfect concrete on a flat track with only a few meters of altitude.
The free campsite already filled up pretty quick on friday night since everyone wanted to have a front seat since it is possible to watch all races from where the tents are standing, around 30m away from the track. And this is what we love about the Heidbergring so much. It's rare that spectators can watch and outdoor bike event from the start to the finish line. The atmosphere in this "nature stadium" around 40k away from Hamburg is just amazing.
The Last Man Standing started saturday morning, soon after the Last Woman Standing. Both races had a "Fixed Gear" (for track bikes) and an "Open"
(for all bikes with brakes) category. The heats in the Fixed Gear category always have 10 riders, the heats in the Open category have 8 riders. The last one one is kicked out after every lap until at the end of the day only one last man and one last woman is still standing.
The favourite Fixed Gear teams from Defekt Crew, 8bar team, RAD PACK, Team Standert, Fixedpott, Maloja Pushbikers, Schindelhauer, SM Parts, Messpack Berlin all made it into the big final. Once again Sebi Körber, Fixed42 World Champion from 2015 and last years Last Man Standing, showed unbelievable skills and sprint power so he made it to first place right before Alex Müller and Johannes Killisperger.
In the Open category the CANYON RAD PACK was unbeatable. Fritz Ferner and Ben Schnabel, both team RAD PACK nailed it and collected important points in the RAD RACE SERIES. Great Job guys!!
Johanna Jahnke, Marion Dziwnik and Karla Sommer showed no mercy in the Fixed Gear women's finals. Rain couldn't stop either one of them. Johanna Jahnke rode the fastest lap and Marion Dziwnik proved once again that the Heidbergring track seems to be one of her favourites.
In the women's open finale Tanja Erath was the strongest one and left no chance for anyone else. Much respect to all women for ridingthe finals in pouring rain!!! The full results and rankings for all races can be found here:
For the whole RAD PACK the Heidbergring weekend is by far the most exhausting race to organize. The weather in Hamburg is unpredictable and therefore we cannot promise you we will be back in 2017. We might (!) take a break and concentrate on our biggest race next year: the stage race RAD RACE TOUR DE FRIENDS in September 2017. More info about this will be released soon. But maybe we will be back in 2017. Give us a few days and then we'll let you all know. Anyways: we all hope you had a great time!! If yoou liked it please help us spread the word!
Thank you so much to all riders for taking part in the second RAD RACE SERIES event of the season. Next week we're hosting the RAD RACE BATTLE in the official program of the Euro Eyes Cyclassics.
STOP RACISM - START RACEISM.
