RAD RACE Tour de Friends 4 - Colombia - Testride - Stage 5
The final stage. Armenia - Buga.
152.5km, 1.595m of altitude.
WE DID IT!!! The test ride is complete. That was stage 5, the final stage of the RAD RACE TOUR DE FRIENDS edition 4 from Bogota to Cali that’s supposed to happen in March 2020.
The final stage lead from Armenia to Buga (close to Cali, the 2nd biggest city in Colombia). I wanna call this stage the “Banana Fields Stage” because I have never seen so massive and wide banana trees surrounding us.
The ride began in Armenia which is also not a small city and which hopefully hosts a legendary roof top pool party on one of the two hotels where all riders will sleep and party after stage 4. The ride is almost 50k uphill from the start. Bigger urban streets in the beginning and then smaller jungle roads later.
After 50k or so you hit the only climb of this stage, Csicedonia to Sevilla 15.3km, 637m of altitude and and average hight of 3.7%. But in the end after you did the longest climb on the planet “Letras” on stage 2 nothing ever will shock you anymore...
The check point of this stage will be after 55km in Sevilla. From then on it’s pretty much uphill only. Unfortunately we have to hit the highway again (but we will try to come up with an alternative route for 2020) but it’s only flat until the finish line in Buga. The tour ends in the wonderful village / city of Buga and we hope we can welcome a few hundred riders in March 2020.
The plan is to have a legendary after show party on a big hacienda with all riders and then stay in Buga for one day until we drive back everyone to Bogota.
A recap of all stages will follow tomorrow. Thanks so far. This has been a magic tour and we cannot thank Colombia enough for being such an amazing piece of earth.
