Pescul - Bolzano

THE STRAVA TRACK OF DAY 7.

THE STRAVA TRACK OF DAY 7.

The queen of all our stages on the RAD RACE "Tour D'Italia". 3.300 meters of altitude... Sometimes it feels like we're only rolling uphill. But that was the whole plan right? Riding with your friends and having the time of our lives. And today once again we learned one of the most important lessons there are in life (and in cycling): In 99% of all cases things need to turn bad before they turn into something real good...

We started in perfect moods at 9am in our refugio in Pescul and rode into the first of 4 big climbs right away. And the first one was probably already the hardest with a height of 500 meters in a row. Then soon the other 2 came and we had an amazing lunch break with the whole crew.

Then climb 3 and 4 came and on the 4th we were literally into the clouds and it started raining. Or was it even rain? Or just some clouds leaving some water on us... But seriously when the whole group was on top it was raining cats and dogs and the temperature dropped to less than 10 degrees. And we can tell you. That seriously feels so cold when you're riding downhill... I can't speak for everyone but I am sure not only myself thought of jumoing into the dry and warm team bus. But nobody went. Everyone took the damage and cold and everyone suffered. And the crew split, too. I for myself ended in a group of 7 and we left the track to ride into the sun. That was just an overwhelming feeling: riding to wherever the sun - and not the track - is. And there was the lesson. Everything's better when you earned it. When you earned it hard. And I am sure we did so in the end we had an amazing descent in the sun for more than 40k until we hit Bolzano.

Now we're sitting in our camp, listening to some music, having beer and we're already psyched to ride the mighty Stelvio tomorrow...

To be continued...
