RACE REPORT: Stage 2 Marcello Bergamo Cup in Denmark

The general classification of this stage race ins based on points and not on the overall time. Therefore today was not a relaxed day for the team. How to defend the yellow jersey of a rider who prefers mountains? No clue, but we tried. Henne, Fritz and John followed many attacks to keep everything together. With still more than 60km to go. Jonas followed an attack of two riders. In a very short time they got gap of more than a minute. One of them, Gustav Sillehoved, came in yesterday on place 5. So actually he was super dangerous for the yellow jersey. Nobody thought they would survive 60km on the windy course. With 1,5 laps to go the peloton came closer and a further rider made it to the break away. Ut then the gap get bigger and bigger again. With 7km to go the leading group get in a peloton of another age group. Unfortunately they were also in their last lap, so the leading group couldn’t past easily. All four riders positioned themselves in the top of the peloton and got ready for the sprint. Jonas had the best position and won the sprint of the whole bunch. Henne, Fritz and Moritz set the lead out train for Ben and John to get them in the points and it worked! Place 10, 12 and 13.
Jonas is now leading the general classification with the same points before Gustav Sillehoved.

Jan Lietzke in B-class:

After not finishing yesterdays stage due to illness and a crash with a car three days ago resulting in a stitched chin, the whole pack took care of me and built me up again. As my fitness is coming back I was able to chase down the brakeaway today and rode the last 70km of the race with it. The final attacks with less than 10km to go were still too much for me. In the end I came in in 15th position after giving it all I had so far. I hope my fitness is still improving and tomorrow will be better than today.

Max Höflich in A-class:

After a hard first day, the goal for me (Max) was simple „survive the second day“. The race for the a class was about nearly flat 142,5 k. But the big Teams tried to use the crosswinds to separate the field.
Just after the start a Group of 9 goes on the attack. The big teams controlled the field and the race, the group made it...
But I had a good day in the field! Yesterday was first time in the Slipstream of the service cars, today was the first time I saw people peeing on / off the bike and was part of a peloton waiting for the yellow Jersey! #welcome2thenextlevel thats what they said.
In the end it was fast and furious, but max was in Good company (Max #11 and Paul #13 Lindenau) and so it ends in the bunch sprint. #22
