We’re still not dreamin’. We woke up way too early and we’re still in Colombia. Before the two test rides for the RAD RACE TOUR DE FRIENDS 4 begin tomorrow we had another day to waste. Jan, Jonas, Ingo and Oscar decided to meet up again with local riders from Bogota to cycle another 80-100k. The others just spend their day in Bogota, had many Tintos (Colombian Espresso) and just saved some energy for the next 2 weeks.
Before the ride began Jan, Ingo, Oscar (and Hendrik and Carlos to film and take photos) went to meet up with the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Bogota. We presented our idea of a RAD RACE TdF in 2020 and... THEY LOVED THE IDEA!!! So most likely we gonna do it in March of 2020.
Then Jonas, Carlos and me decided to ride the 30k to the meeting point outside of Bogota by bike and not with our support bus. (Did I mention already that our driver is Jose Patrocinio, a four time Tour de France rider, three times Vuelta? A fucking legend!!!) To reach the meeting point we had to cycle through Bogota in crazy traffic and we can tell you that this aint for the light-hearted. That was seriously insane but sooo much fun.
Then we met again some supernice local people and they took us 80k to Alto de Margaritas, a famous climb that Egan Bernal (Team Sky) is almost doin’ every day. We’re getting used to the altitude better and better but still climbing up to 3200m above sea level was again a tough altitude test.
We’re ready to kick the first test ride of Option 1 of TdF4 tomorrow. 5 stages are waiting. Appr. 670km and 15.000 meters of altitude.
