In 2020 we had our flights booked and the bags

ready when Covid forced us to cancel the event.

So now it’s time to finish unsettled business in Latin America and we want you to come and join us!

Tour de Friends
Colombia

  EXPLAINED

TRACK

761 km – 13860 moa

Bogotá ✻ Honda  Manizales  Pereira  Armenia  Buga

In 5 stages – and one off day – from Colombia’s capital Bogotá to Buga, close to Cali. Approximately 761 km and 13.860 moa. Including „Letras“ the longest uci-category climb of this planet.

You will face traffic - roads are not closed for the Tour de Friends. We made sure to design a track that has as little cars and trucks as possible. This shouldn’t be your first time cycling in the mountains. Come physically prepared so you can enjoy the ride and not the pain.

Which bike?

The track is designed for road bikes. We might encounter a few km of gravel here and there but nothing that should worry you! Gravel bike is always possible but we do not recommend MTB or Fixed.

   SCHEDULE

Services

This is not an all inclusive cycling vacation. This is not your usual Tour de Friends

Focus is set on the community aspect. We’ll make sure to find a bed for everyone and a place to enjoy cervezas after a day in the saddle. Breakfast will be included. Lunch and dinner is on you. We are in Colombia though – you will find great food for little money.

The starting fee includes:

  • A fully accompanied stage ride

  • All accommodation (shared rooms only)

  • All luggage transfers

  • Breakfast

  • Check Points: Sport nutrition refill station

  • Expert bike mechanics

  • Support vehicles

  • Sweeper bus

  • Emergency support

  • Block parties

  • After show party in Buga

The starting fee does not include:

  • Travel costs to Bogotá

  • lunch & dinner

  • the costs of the shuttle service or any transfers from/to airports and hotels

  • The travel costs are not included in the registration fee! We will be in Bogotá waiting for you. How you get there – by plane, ship, car or bike – is up to you! Make sure to check the visa conditions for your country of birth and take out an international health insurance. Last thing is mandatory for the participation!

  • 9 nights accomodation – shared rooms only: A bed at night to rest your tired bones. At times we will all miss the extra luxury that we might be used to – but a bed is a bed once you’re tired ☺

  • ✱ breakfast is always included

✱ during the day: basic nutrition at checkpoints

✱ all lunch & dinners are on you but each night we’ll communicate a meeting point where we will meet up for cervezas and story-talk

  • ✱ Checkpoints with basic Maurten nutrition, water and snacks

✱ Pro bike mechanics for everyday repairs – no open heart surgeries on your bike – just basic help to keep you riding!

  • Your luggage will be transported every day from start to finish. Once you’ve got your bag at the finish you need to make it to your assigned accommodation on your own – so keep it light and simple. You want to travel with a backpack!

During the rider’s briefing in Bogotá you can leave your bike bag at the check in counter. We will transport it to Buga where you can pick it up in the finish area. If you have a flight to catch in Bogotá you can book a shuttle (rider + bike box) here:

  • We can put you in contact with people who do road bike rentals in Colombia if you do/can not bring your own bike. CHECK HERE

  • We like to ride - and we like to go wild on the dance floors. Prepare for loud music and extensive partying along the tour when you cross a finish line – no matter if you’re fast or last! Our infamous after show party will be the pinnacle of ecstasy and is not one to be missed. Promised.

  • We offer a shuttle service to get you and your bike back to Bogotá after our mission is accomplished.

Safety

We checked out the complete tour on our own in 2018. We experienced one of the safest countries we’ve ever seen (and trust us: we have seen many). The roads are not closed to traffic but Colombians love cyclists and believe us: they will love you while you are on your bike.

Of course we will give our best to support you in any way in case of accidents, technical problems or other emergencies. But still it is absolutely mandatory to have a valid international health insurance – otherwise we can’t let you participate!

THIS IS
NOT
A RACE

…one of the most important rules and general mind set of every Tour de Friends. We want you to enjoy the view, get to know each other and simply have fun. Most of what this event makes it so special is the way you participate in it.

✗ Safety first:
always wear a helmet

Companionship is key:
look out for each other and help each other out

There are no blocked roads: you always have to respect the traffic rules

Keep your ego down, ride
safe and enjoy the time!

We Are Your

Friends

IT’S ALWAYS NICE TO MEET OLD AND NEW FRIENDS – BUT IT IS EVEN NICER TO MEET THEM ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. NOT KNOWING WHAT’S WAITING FOR YOU ON ROADS THROUGH WILDERNESS YOU’VE NEVER BEEN TO BEFORE.

BUT DONT’ WORRY – YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
